Race Description

The predominantly peaceful Boron are aquatic life-forms from the planet Nishala. While initially pacifist, the discovery of their world by the Split forced them to invent defences and adapt to war. Enjoying a close relationship with the Argon, the Boron remain a wise and measured people.

Faction Description

The Provinces Adrift were formed in 812 NT out of a newly re-connected string of Boron systems. Despite being disconnected from the Boron homeworld, the inhabitants were initially reluctant to create their own system of autonomous governance. The hardships they faced would eventually convince them that they did not really have a choice. Establishing a new government in a time of crisis, especially involving several systems that were not previously aligned, would present a daunting challenge to any other race. Luckily, however, the Boron demeanour and their natural tendency towards cohesion made the process comparatively painless. The highest political office in the Provinces Adrift is occupied by a Royal Steward. Their first priority is to ensure the well-being of the Boron in their charge, and to keep these systems as stable as possible until contact is made with the Queen in Kingdom End. Similar to the corresponding role in the Queendom's Parliament, this is an elected position. The Royal Steward oversees resource allocation and defence, as well as diplomatic relations with other governments and organisations in the network. Although the Boron are an inherently cooperative species, this does not mean that friction is completely absent. Several voices have raised concerns that the Provinces Adrift are being too passive, especially when it comes to defence and attempting to reach Kingdom End. Others claim that holding on to the past would be a waste of time and energy, and more and more Boron are moving away from life in space. They are hoping to find safety and a simple life below the surface of their systems' planets. With these developments in mind, it is difficult to predict exactly how long the Provinces Adrift will exist in its current form.
